Thermal-Vac enjoys being in the “middle” of a project, our engineering staff is made up of long standing tribal knowledge, floor trained individuals as well as engineering disciplines of mechanical, metallurgical and physics all under one roof. It’s funny, all of our engineers who have retired or moved on to other opportunities are still involved with Thermal-Vac in some capacity, I guess they enjoyed the challenges and the atmosphere we create with our customers.

We have had opportunities in many areas of our industry to consult and suggest major changes to rocket motor processing to allow for a more robust process while reducing costs.

Our technical support people have been trained in six sigma projects which allows our customers to benefit from our technical expertise while realizing cost savings, and reducing schedule lead times, now that’s a winning combination! Most of our technical support persons have been uniquely involved with manufacturing throughout their careers so they understand your pain. Our recommendations involving a power generation module saved the customer in excess of 1.6 million dollars in the first year of production. Our recommendation on some commercial products created both a lower market entry price coupled with a shorter market entry date, saving tens of thousands of dollars and getting the product back to market more quickly.

Because we are so diverse, we can coordinate heat treating, brazing, plating and coating knowledge our horizons are much brighter. We don’t look at simply one facet of the project. We have solved many problems for many manufacturers over the years and we have an excellent grasp on the manufacturing industry requirements to keep parts moving through the steps.

Many of our customers ship all of their processing to us and they depend on our technical expertise to support processes we do not perform in-house. Yes, we broker a fair amount of work to our support vendors. We are in a better position in many cases to handle these special processes for our customer because we are a special processor. We speak “the language” of the special processors so we can move material faster and with higher quality than our customers are able to do. We also have technical support expertise to verify the job gets done right. Thermal-Vac reduces our customers’ pain of following up on three special processors, writing three separate purchase orders, and allowing finger pointing in three distinct directions; instead, they just call to Thermal-Vac to “handle it” for them. This actually results in cost and schedule savings.
