Thermal-Vac Technology’s Nickel Plating operation serves as a significant resource for its customers. In 2006, the transfer of ownership from the Model Plating Company added a long history of plating successes to the Thermal-Vac team. This purchase is an example of our commitment to increasing our ability to provide the services that enhance plating quality and delivery times for our customers.

One customer had a particular nickel plating job that required oversized tanks. Thermal-Vac accommodated them and provided a level of Statistical Process Control (SPC) the customer had never before experienced. The quality and consistency of the parts were light years beyond the competition. We were able to provide excellent service to this “plating only” job shop.

Another example of Thermal-Vac’s commitment is the enhanced service capacity we have for plating brazing and heat treating— all under one roof. We experienced long lead times with one of our main customer’s lines. The customer sent plating out to another plater and endured long lead times. In addition to long lead times, the plating blistered during the braze application.

Using our in-house knowledge of plating for braze applications, we were able to plate the parts in a manner that created an exceptional brazed part without blistering. The bigger benefit to the customer was the lead time was reduced from two weeks to four days by applying Six Sigma process reviews.
